I listened to Channel 7 News tonight (Feb 24) and saw the three candidates for
Boise Police Ombudsman. My impressions:
Stan Burton - A person with an established value system who is a talented
negotiator. He seems like the most mature and stable choice and I would pick
him.
Mark Stodic - New out of law school and not seasoned in making choices. He
would be a less stable choice.
Pierce Murphy - An ex-police reserve person out of California. He actually said:
"...make a good police force better..." (referring to Boise PD). That's a gutsy
statement for a man who wants to mediate between the ultimately powerful Boise
Police Department and the public which they abuse. This guy is a looser, but
because of the distribution of power in Ada co., he will probably get the job.
(After all, who really runs the show in Boise anyway? Money and Power!)
